For the last 5 months, I've navigated an abusive situation, the ongoing accountability process, and the aftermath of surviving abuse. My abuser and their community have been violently adamant about not honoring my boundaries, requests, and safety needs. After recent escalation with my abuser and their community, I made the request to my neighbor (who lives on my block) to stop having my abuser over for the sake of my safety in my neighborhood. They refused to do so.
I am pleading with those who care for me and those who care about the wellness/ safety of Black trans survivors to help me move to get away from seeing my abuser (and those who enable them) where I live.
I am also currently separated from my full-time job after COVID-19. I am not in a financial situation in which I can easily move without a lot of backend financial support. I am raising $20K to cover breaking my lease and additional fees, to move my belongings, to get new housing, for safety alternatives, to support my finances during this time without a full-time job, and for my healing. I am also immune-compromised and cannot easily navigate finding financial alternatives or utilize emergency housing within the pandemic.
Most folks who know me, know that it's very difficult for me to ask for help. So please understand that this was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Black trans survivors often outwork entire communities to create our own safety. I am exhausted by holding a majority of the labor to keep me safe in my body and in my social community.
