Our mission is simple: to create a world where EVERY heart has a home.
After opening a drop-in center in Houston, TX in 2011, over 400 homeless youth walked through our doors in less than eight months. Over two-thirds of these youth were homeless due to aging out of the foster care system. They had no family; no support.
In relocating to Tennessee it has been our goal to establish a place for foster youth aging out a place to transition with guidance and assistance, where they feel a part of a community.
This past year we purchased a ranch. We have the space to START!
In addition to being an emergency placement for foster youth on the ranch, we also offer a summer camp for foster youth currently in foster care at no cost to foster parents. Our camps focus on self-esteem, anti-bullying, team work and the importance of knowing options as these youth grow up and near the age of aging out of the system.
We hired a program director in January of 2015. Unfortunately, we could only offer a contract position through June of 2015. Unless funds are raised, we will need to let this person go.
Secondly, we have eighteen animals on the property. It takes money to run the ranch, feed the animals, vet bills, and simply keep the property in SAFE condition for our guests. Every weekend we open the gates and foster families and foster youth are welcome to visit the ranch, having an opportunity to connect with the animals and one another other, at no charge. During the week, special groups can visit the ranch as we conduct group tours.
Thirdly, we must spend funds in marketing and promoting our work with the local community. This takes money.
The next stage is a much larger stage, involving purchasing property to grow the program, establishing 10-20 'Safe Houses' for youth aging out of care, but for now, we are starting right here at the ranch and asking you to help.
