Safe space relocation

Donation protected
Hello my name is Miguel and this fundraiser has been started to keep my family safe by helping us relocate to a different residence as soon as possible.

On September 29th 2021 at 4:43am in Milwaukee Wisconsin an unknown individual drove by and opened fire into our home. Approximately 17 shots were directed solely towards our bedroom where my wife and 5 year old autistic son were soundly sleeping. My 4 year old and I had just gotten up an hour earlier and were in the living room when this unbelievably heinous act occurred. I was watching them on our nest camera when this transpired and at the time I did not know what had exactly happened. My wife quickly gathered our older boy and ran towards us in the living room as we both began to process the event in disbelief. I immediately called 911 and the Milwaukee police department arrived a few moments later. They scoured the street in front of our house but could not locate the casings because the gunman apparently had a shell catcher on their firearm and the intensity was quickly growing with each new detail that was gathered.

As they began to document what had happened at our home. We pulled the playback footage from our CCTV I had set up a few weeks prior and I could not believe it. This individual pulled up to our neighbors house and parked at the curb for about 20 seconds until they eventually pulled up to the front of our home and then the flashes of gunfire began to cut through our siding, drywall, doors, and bedroom window. Multiple bullets traveled all the way into the back bedroom wall of our home. I am so dearly grateful that neither of them were murdered, severely injured, or even struck by one of the bullets that flew inches from my youngest and I would have been sleeping had he not woken up an hour earlier.

My wife and I are incredibly grateful that our two little boys are safe and sound but now live with the anxiety and trauma that this could happen again any day now as we do not know why this even happened to us in the first place. Now we try to live as normal as we can for the boys but for the past two nights, when the sun starts to set, the anxiety slowly builds and after the kids are asleep. We have the live feed of our CCVT in our view at all times on our phones and we try not to travel together on the first floor just in case it happens again one of us will still be alive to care for our boys.

Here is one of the bullets that was found in my wife's sock drawer.

We have used all of our funds to purchase this home in March of 2021 and now want to relocate as quickly as we can but are at a loss on how to do that. We have assistance through programs for our special needs son but none of which will help with relocation assistance. That is why we started this page.

We never thought we would ever need to do something like this but we are putting our pride aside and are reluctantly asking for help from anyone willing to help us find a new home for our family.

These funds will be put towards helping to cover the insurance deductible for the repairs, fees of selling of our current home, and the down payment towards the purchasing and moving to a new home or apartment in a safer area.

There may be another option that we have not yet explored or been made aware of but I will be sure to update this post of one does come along with the help of anyone willing to lend us advice.

No matter what happens with this page and our request for help. We are really very grateful for anyone who takes the time to read our story and will be forever in debt to any incredibly kind soul who wishes to donate. The safety of our boys is what matters most and we will not forget those who helped us achieve that in any way possible.

Lastly, the most important thing this experience has proved to us is that tomorrow is not promised. Please watch out for your neighbors and loved ones. Life moves fast and today really could be your last moment with them.

Thank you and stay safe.

-Miguel
