S.A.F.E. is in need of a permanent storage unit
** UPDATE #1 **
Thank you to everyone that has donated so far! Our fundraiser has started and we are on the way to securing the storage unit. Every donation, no matter the amount, is getting us closer. Please share this page to help get the word out to others that might be interested in donating.
As the Founder/Executive Director of South Carolina Advocates For Epilepsy, Inc., (S.A.F.E.) my passion is to serve and support all people with epilepsy and their families currently living in SC. My son, Erick Gordon, was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2007 at the age of eighteen. He was my inspiration for starting the only state-wide epilepsy nonprofit.
Running a nonprofit certainly comes with monthly expenses. A storage unit is needed to ensure we have a safe and large enough place for our materials and equipment. Over the past few years, our monthly rate has increased approximately every six to eight months. We are currently paying $227 for a 10'x15' unit and our rate has been increased to $272 starting this month. Not only have the rates increased, but the amount of the increase is now going up significantly each time. After looking at the projected costs at the new rate, our storage cost for three years will be $9792! And that does not include rate increases that will occur during that time.
We feel we should be better stewards of our donations and funds by purchasing a permanent storage solution. We are working with a veteran-owned company in SC to purchase a new, one-trip, shipping container (measures 40' x 9.6'). This air-tight container will provide more square footage, immediate access to our belongings and become an asset for our organization. With your donation, we will also be able to eliminate the monthly expense!
We would like to move forward with this purchase as soon as possible and you can help make that possible by making a tax-deductible donation to South Carolina Advocates For South Carolina, Inc. All donations are greatly appreciated and will help us to help people with epilepsy, many of whom you will never meet. Your generosity will enable us to provide more programs, educational symposiums, social events and seizure first-aid training throughout SC.
On behalf of our Board of Directors and members of our organization, we thank you for your consideration of supporting this fundraiser.
