Sadie's pregnancy medical needs
This is Sadie and she has a family of 6 with a little girl on the way. Sadie was diagnosed with Placenta Accreta. What that exactly is, accreta is a serious life threatening pregnancy condition that occurs when the placenta grows too deeply into (or even through) the uterine wall and can’t detach after the baby is delivered. This creates a high risk of life threatening maternal hemorrhage. A hysterectomy and blood transfusions are required to save the mother’s life. There are three levels of Placenta Accreta and Sadie is at the first level, but will progress as her pregnancy continues. Therefore, Sadie needs a top notch specialist and a level three NICU hospital located in Texas for this high risk pregnancy and the safety of her baby.
She will need funds for basic necessities such as:
- Lodging: Due to the size of her family, they're unable to stay at the Ronald McDonald house as there max is 4 people, so they have to seek for short term housing for at least 2 months.
- Transportation: For her to attend mandatory medical appointments and to get her safely to the hospital for the birth of her baby girl.
- Airfare: Sadie is currently working and living in Barrow and has been traveling to Anchorage, Alaska every other week to see an OBGYN specialist since the local hospital cannot treat her due to her high risk pregnancy situation. It is coming to a point where even the Anchorage OBGYN cannot see her because of the progression of her diagnose and will need to fly to Texas where they specialize in her medical situation. She is needing any monetary or miles that can assist her in getting to Anchorage and Texas safely.
