It's no secret to anyone that knows Justin and I, we are animal lovers and more importantly, we looooooove our 2 dogs.
Tux is a Boston Terrier and the eldest, he just under went stomach surgery after ingesting his weight worth of rib bones. That set us back about $1,600 a few weeks ago. He is our sweet little bubba bear and worth every penny. Thank you Dr. Adler!
However, this story is not about Tux, it's about our American Pit Bull Terrier, Sadie or Sadie Kins or Baby Girl or simply Sades. We found her when she was roughly 12 weeks old, abondoned and eating garbage. At first I resisted taking on another dog, but it wasn't long until Sadie and Justin broke me down and Sadie worked her way into my heart. We couldn't imagine our lives without her now.
Two years ago, she pulled her CCL on her left leg, which would be the equivalent to a human's ACL. We were lucky to be able to afford the surgery and have a great team of vets through Banfield Pet Hospital to help us. Dr. Christiansen was amazing.
Unfortunantely, Sadie is experiencing the same injury on the other leg and it's much worse this time around. Not only has she completely torn her CCL in her right leg when playing fetch, her absolute favorite activity, the meniscus is also torn. Leaving her completely lame in that leg.
To top that off, while x-raying her right leg, they discovered that her left leg with the previous surgery is infected. It seems that there is bone deterioration around 2 of the 4 screws. This has caused an infection. We bought $400 worth of antibiotics to help clear it up.
With that all that said, she needs surgery on both legs. As it is right now, she can barely walk without assistance.
Knowing when to ask for help is hard, but Justin and I have officially reached that point. To say that we are stressed, is an understatment. At this time we are both emotionally and financially overwhelmed. We want nothing more than to get our girl puppy back to normal and playing.
We have seen so many success stories through Go Fund Me, so we thought, what the heck. We are asking for anything, even just a share of this post with #sadieneedsnewlegs. We are trying everything we can to help our Sadie.
