Sadie's Heart Surgery

Hello my name is Marvella and I’m helping Lisa raise funds for Sadie's heart surgery. Sadie Willow is an aussiedoodle, that we rescued from a puppy mill. She was only six months old when she was rescued. We soon discovered Sadie had a severe heart murmur (grade 5 out of 6) which can be felt by a palpable vibration. Sadie is being treated for Patent Ductus Arteriosus, a congenital heart condition. Dogs with this condition face a 50% chance of a one year mortality rate, if the condition is not treated. Sadie is currently on a four medications (Vetmedin, Furosemide, Spironolacyone and Enalapril) twice daily to help the side affects of the uncorrected PDA.

It's a miracle that she's made it to almost two years old, thanks to the medication! Sadie is such a happy dog that deserves to live a long and healthy life. Even given her condition, she tries to play and enjoy life, like any other dog.

Sadie is in need of surgery to close the PDA. Studies show with this surgery, if treated before a dog develops heart failure, the success rate is very high and the prognosis for a normal life after surgery is excellent! A&M Small Animal Hospital is now charging $8k for the veterinary cardiologist to complete the echocardiogram, bloodwork and surgery to correct the PDA.
