Saddleworth 3 Peaks for abcd
Donation protected
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and with secondary breast cancer in 2014. Being a fitness coach and Pilates instructor, I’ve always been passionate about wellness and exercise. Despite being fit and relatively healthy, incurable cancer, lifetime treatments, surgeries and procedures can all take their toll. As well as the obvious physical and mental challenges, anyone going through cancer can relate to the loss of confidence.
Last year I was fortunate enough to benefit from a free exercise retreat for those affected by breast cancer. These invaluable weekends are organised by abcd - After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, founded by Jo Taylor, who herself lives with secondary breast cancer. Being with a group of like-minded, people was both humbling and comforting. The camaraderie was special. We supported each other in all the activities, which included walking, running, yoga, and of course eating and drinking in great company.
We all left with renewed confidence and new friends. Appreciating the importance and absolute need for these retreats, I wanted to give something back.
On 28th May 2022 a group of us, including myself and my two sisters will be taking part in an 8 hour trek when we’ll be taking on the 3 Saddleworth Peaks. Our cause is to raise money so that Jo can continue providing these amazing retreats to more people affected by breast cancer.
Any donation would be appreciated, as every little helps.
