Hello, I’m raising money for my mums sadaqah jariah who passed away on the 16th of April 2024. Rukia Abdi Urur was the best mother me and my siblings could ever ask for. I could talk to her about anything and she would always be there to give me the best advice. She embodied islam with everything she did and the way she raised us. Not only was she someone we could always run to with our problems but she was so loved in our neighbourhood and brought the community together. She was so passionate about helping others. My name is Ayan Nahar. Me and my sister would like to raise this money to initially build a mosque and then build a well in her home town to continue my mother's good deeds and if you aren’t able to donate that’s fine. I hope you can still share and forward this link to as many people as you can. She was diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal cancer on the 10th of June 2023. Writing this has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. My mum was a woman with such strong iman and belief that for whatever reason she got this cancer it was what Allah had written for her masha’allah. Which is why when she was diagnosed she didn’t think much of it in fact she had a smile on her face but that news broke my heart. My mum was my absolute best friend and she had touched so many people. She began chemotherapy in July. Once they began chemotherapy her condition began to get a lot worse very quickly. She was experiencing difficulty eating, coughing more and very bad indigestion. After three rounds of chemo they stopped her treatments which was around the month of September. They informed us that she had to stop the chemo because the cancer has spread to her lungs and lymph nodes. Her eating habits got so bad to the point where during this same month they had put my mum on a strict liquid diet. My mum was always willing to try whatever treatments were made available to her and was very strong throughout these heartbreaking appointments. My mother’s oncologist then suggested immunotherapy and radiotherapy which she began in November. She soon got really unwell and was admitted in the hospital for a week. The immunotherapy and radiotherapy only made her condition worse. All these treatments made my sweet mother so weak that after each treatment she’d be so drained and her symptoms just continued to worsen. The radiotherapy made her feel like her chest was on fire, theres was even a dark/burn kind of mark on her back where the radiotherapy was done. The immunotherapy continued to cause her cancer to spread and appear in more places. Once all these treatments didn’t work for my mum we started to lose hope, in situations like this you wish to be the exception but that wasn’t the case for my mother. They suggested she try a clinical trial which are new treatments they are testing. I was very skeptical about this clinical trial but once my mum had a discussion with their team they said she couldn’t be put forward for the trial due not being able to swallow. At this point, it was all getting to be too much. We had one last appointment with my mums oncologist on the 16th of February who informed us that my mother has 2 months left to live.  My mum was quick to dismiss the doctor's opinions on how long she had left to live as were we but she still wanted to make the most of it in case it was her time. She visited her home country and saw all of her family, she also was invited to umrah during ramadan masha’allah and I got to experience that with her which is something I’ll never forget. We returned from umrah on the 31st of March 2024, my mum fell extremely unwell and slowly got worse and worse until she couldn’t have food entirely and was bedridden. Her palliative care team would come every day to make sure she was comfortable and as the days went on she began to not be able to swallow any water either. We all tried to make this an Eid where we could spend it with her and I’m so glad we got to have one last Eid with my mum. My lovely mother, my best friend, my whole world unfortunately passed away 6 days after Eid. I love and miss her everyday and I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. I pray Allah gives me the same amount of strength and iman as my mum because not once did she complain about how much pain she was in, nor did she ask why it was happening to her. She smiled her way through all of it and was even smiling as she passed away. Allah yarhamu mama. May Allah reunite me with you in Jannah. If you reached this far, thank you. It is definitely very lengthy and I could talk about her for days even weeks nonstop but her battle with cancer was something that was very hard to summarise.
