Sacred Summit Challenge

Tax deductible
Through September and October, my goal is to raise money for nonprofit Adopt-A-Native-Elder by summiting the four sacred mountains of the Diné (Navajo): Sisnaajiní (Blanca) to the east, Tsoodził (Mt. Taylor) to the south, Dook’oosłííd (San Francisco Peaks) to the west, and Dibé Nitsaa (Hesperus) to the north.

Our elders are the storytellers, the keepers of our past, the ones who raised us. However, many struggle to make ends meet, and do not have access to simple necessities such as food and medical supplies. I fear what will happen as we head into winter and flu season, especially for our elders who are at a higher risk of COVID.

I will gladly accept any donation, big or small, but my goal is to find donors to pledge a certain amount per mountain, or a total sum if I complete all four summits. Even $5 per mountain ($20 total) will help immensely.

As I embark on my journey, I would greatly appreciate it if you would help me spread the word. I will post updates on my summit schedule for those wishing to pledge an amount for each mountain.

Ahéhee' (thank you)!

About Adopt-A-Native-Elder (ANE).
This program exists to create a bridge of hope between Native Americans and other cultures. It allows us to reach out to one another, share our gifts, and mend the broken circle of our relationship with the Land and the Native Americans who hold it in sacred trust. ANE is a trusted humanitarian organization focused on delivering food, medical supplies, yarn for weaving, firewood, and food certificates. Respecting the tradition and dignity of the Navajo Elders, we reach out to learn the culture, create relationships, and honor and serve the Elders. We have served over 15,000 Navajo Elders by directly delivering over five million pounds of food over the last 26 years. We rely on individual donations, grants or foundations for more than half of our food and supplies budget. For every $1 received ANE delivers $4 in value because of our dedicated network of the on-the-ground volunteers and in-kind services. Collaboration is a "guiding principle," for ANE and we engage volunteers and donations from supporters from over 15 countries. Over 80% of funds go directly to program services in the form of food, firewood, yarn for weaving and basic medical supplies. Donations to the Adopt-A-Native-Elder program are a solid investment with results. You can be proud of your life-giving contribution.
