Sachie's "Hope For A Kidney" Fund

Donation protected

My step mom Sachie was diagnosed 9 years ago with IGA Nephrosis of her kidneys. This is a progressive kidney disease that gradually decreases the kidney function over time. She has been taking five different medications a day for the past several years. Her kidney function has decreased to less than 25% and she is now in need of a kidney transplant.

She recently lost her health insurance when her place of work closed and she now is without work and health insurance. This has left her with the burden of having to pay for all medical expenses at full cost, out of pocket. The monthly expense for her medications alone is roughly $3,000, not including the medical bills she has acquired from her doctor and hospital visits.

She went to the Saint Barnabas Kidney Translant Center for a consultation and because she has no insurance the process for beginning the work up for trasnplantation can not begin. Saint Barnabas stated that with no insurance the cost for a kidney transplant would be $150K-$200K. Given the progressive nature of this disease the transplant needs to be completed within the next 2-3 months.

Sachie is a mother of three and has been an active member of The Rotary International for several years. In those years she has participated in several campaigns in South America helping the less fortunate.
