Sabrina's Spine Surgery & Recovery

Our little girl, Sabrina Gonzalez (11 years old), was recently diagnosed with severe scoliosis that will require urgent surgery. The type of scoliosis that she has affects two parts of her spine -- lumbar and thoracic. Unfortunately, this type of scoliosis is painful and can lead to a long list of future complications without surgical intervention. The doctors fear that without surgery even her heart and lungs can be placed into jeopardy. Sabrina has already been suffering from persist back pain. 

The specialists at Nicklaus Children's Hospital have informed us that incision will be all the way from her neck to her waist and that the recovery will be extensive. She will need to be absent from school for at least a month and will need considerable therapy. She will have very limited mobility as she recuperates. This surgery is incredibly expensive and their insurance deductible and co-insurance are extremely high. 

Family and friends of Silvia and Lorenzo have put together this GoFundMe in efforts to help relieve the financial burden that this will surely bring to this family. Sabrina is scheduled for surgery in November and the entire deductible will need to be paid upfront. The emotional toll alone of this diagnosis has been overwhelming.
