Lets Help Dillon Walk Again

Donation protected

There are times in our life when we need to step back and recognize the simple things we take for granted each day.  Today we struggle with a future still unknown.  Let me introduce you to an awesome young man, a wonderful father and caring individual dedicated to always helping others and serving his community.

Dillon is a 25-year old resident of Las Vegas, father of a beautiful 2-year-old daughter. He is known and loved for his huge giving heart and love for his daughter, his friends and family. His father passed away in 2015 and left him a Harley Davidson which began his love for riding.

Unfortunately, on February 26th, 2018 he was involved in a horrible motorcycle accident where he collided with an SUV.

His mom, Marie Tomao, was notified at her home by his friends at 10:45pm on Monday night. They were concerned for his wellbeing, he wasn’t answering the phone and his phone GPS pinged him at Sunrise Hospital.

Dillon’s mother contacted Sunrise Hospital to find that her son was indeed involved in a very serious motorcycle accident and had severe injuries requiring extensive and ongoing surgeries.

In the first 24 hours Dillon underwent five surgeries to include: replacement of his shattered femur with a rod and crushed patella, and 4 consecutive surgeries to his femoral artery in hopes to restore blood flow to his leg and foot. During the fourth surgery, they successfully attached a synthetic Gortex artery with coils and they continue to monitor blood flow through the leg.

As of today, Friday March 2nd, Dillon underwent his 6th surgery to repair the fractured radius in his wrist and the surgeons removed 25% of dead muscle tissue in his calf in an effort to minimize kidney damage to hopefully save his leg.

Due to the extensive damage to his artery and muscles, he will need future surgeries to remove the dead tissue for functionality of his leg. At this time, the doctors have informed the family that nerve, artery, muscle and bone damage is permanent, and the use of his leg will be compromised. Dillon will require extensive rehabilitation including physical therapy, occupational therapy, skilled nursing and numerous specialty providers.

Dillon is currently at Sunrise Trauma, being compassionately cared for by a group of skilled Trauma and Orthopedic surgeons. These surgeons are the same heroes that cared for the One October (Route 91) shooting. These amazing doctors, nurses, and staff are working tirelessly not only to save his life, but to save his leg as well. He is on a ventilator and has many months of recovery following the surgeries.

Dillon’s family is being told he will no longer be able to work, as he has worked construction for all his adult life. The responsibility of his care and future will fall solely on his mother, Marie Tomao.

This accident will require long term rehabilitation after he is stabilized. We are asking the community to come together to help this young father continue to receive the best ongoing healthcare and restoration to ensure a secure future for him and his daughter.

Funds raised will go to medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation therapies to support the efforts for Dillon to walk again, and his growing monthly expenses to live.

Dillon is loved by his family and friends tremendously and we know his strength along with prayers and God’s grace will get him through this traumatic time. The family is very appreciative of the amount of support though prayers they have already received. Angels have come out of nowhere to express their support and carry him through this. The family knows GOD, Dillon’s strength and diligent care are the key to his future as a father to his daughter.

They are eternally grateful for any and all help.
