"Quick update from Brazil:
Yesterday afternoon while in Rio we decided to go hike up the Christ the Redeemer statue. A tourist attraction. After completing about 80% of the hike, we were met by two thieves on trail that ended up robbing us at knife point. We were deep in the forest and next to a steep ravine, so we didn't have any other viable option but to comply. The robbery lasted 30-40 minutes, only adding to the trauma of the situation. One was calm and the other was very much on edge threatening our group. A few other foreign tourists were also robbed that happened to come up on the situation. After they had taken our wallets, iPhones, sunglasses, beats and shure bluetooth earphones, backpacks, more than $600 in cash, they had us go down the mountain while they escaped up the mountain to the favela. Besides a Chinese tourist that tried to escape, and was beaten and pepper sprayed by the bandits, no one was hurt. We reported it to the local police in Rio and was able to positively identify one of the robbers. However there is little to no chance of recuperating what was taken. We thank you for your prayers!"
As missionaries, Aaron and Tiffany use their phones to communicate with the people of Brazil and are of vital importance to the work they are doing there. Their camera is also used to spread the news of what is happening in Brazil to those that are stateside. Let's make an effort to replace these items so that the gospel can continue to carry on effectively in Brazil! Thank you for your donations and prayers!
