Helping Hands for Lupe

Those of you that know Lupe Morris are familiar with her tenacity, humor, fiercely independent streak and generosity. Lupe continuously works hard to think of others, help whenever she can and devote herself to her students. Now it is time for us to return a fraction of our dear friend's generosity. 

Lupe has given so much of her time, love and service through teaching for 17 years. She has devoted the past 16 years in the Spanish language classroom at Northbrook High School. 

Her friends and family will go to any extent needed to get what she needs, but sometimes even that is not enough. It’s never easy asking for help, but in times like this we need to learn to do so, because every bit of the support received will make a huge difference in Lupe's recovery. 

After 1 year of chemo and radiation treatments for stage 4 lung cancer,  Lupe is disabled by the side effects of the radiation.  Her right lung is totally non-functioning and if not for her age, she would be a transplant candidate.  Right now, the prognosis is that this is permanent.

We all know that in situations like this there is both a physical and a financial impact. Through your generous donations, we can ensure that Lupe can focus on her recovery unfettered by the financial impact of treatment and associated costs. That is why today we ask for everyone’s support. 

Lupe means so much to us so we want her to have ease of mind as she continues her recovery. Lupe is a sweet, generous, feisty and dedicated teacher. We know that through the collective support of our community, we can do our best to come through for Lupe in the same way that she has done for us and her students time and time again.
