BETTY'S SURGERY FUND

Donation protected
This is Betty.  Betty is a rescue from a backyard puppy mill where she had been bred repeatedly.  After she was rescued, she was taken to the vet for an initial examination, shots, and spaying.   Betty initially suffered grand mal seizures, plus she has 2 bad discs in her back, and a bad knee. Recently, Betty has developed chronic problems passing stools. She was taken in and subjected to repeated enemas, laxatives, multiple medications and restricted prescription diet changes.  Now I’ve been informed that Betty will need extensive dental work for periodontal disease and reparative surgery for two perineal hernias, which are now protruding near her tail and anus. The hernias are thought to have resulted from her extensive over-breeding. Detrimental strain was forced on her body from having to give birth to litters of puppies time and time again.   Betty is the sweetest little soul; she never complains or cries, even though she suffers from pushing down to pass any stools.   I have managed expenses so far for Betty’s veterinary care, and have budgeted for her upcoming and necessary dental work, but I simply cannot afford her surgery. I don’t qualify for Care Credit (which would only defer the payments I cannot afford to make, and then high interest charges).
Betty and my other rescue dog have always been a first priority, and I do not believe in surrendering a member of my family to a shelter or having one of my loving companion animals put down simply because they become too expensive to keep.  But I live on a small limited income and really need help with Betty’s surgery.
The lowest estimate is $5000 - $6000, just for the hernia surgery. The higher estimate was $8000 - $10,000.  These are funds I simply don’t have and cannot obtain. Betty deserves to live without the pain and suffering she experiences every time she has to defecate. She has already suffered tremendously and needlessly as a backyard breeding dog - locked in a cage almost all of her life, neglected, poorly fed and allowed to slowly degenerate physically so that someone could make money from selling her multiple litters of puppies. Any contribution will help my precious little friend live the rest of her life as a healthy and happy poodle.  Thank you in advance for your consideration and generosity.  Sincerely, Bob and Betty
