Surgery for Bella
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kelly. I’m doing this fundraising for my dog, Bella. Bella is 2 years old. About 3 months ago, she started limping. I tried caring for her at home for a couple of days to see if she had just strained something, as she is an overall healthy pup. Finally, when I saw that her pain was not subsiding, I took her to the vet to see what was wrong.
1st vet visit: The vet assessed that she had a pulled muscle and suggested that I ice it and they provided me with pain medicine to help with her swelling.
2nd vet visit: A few weeks later, I went back to the vet because she was not showing improvement and I wanted her to be reassessed. At that point, they took an X-ray of her leg. I was told that she had a chipped bone in her knee and that I should take her to see an orthopedic specialist.
3rd vet visit: I researched the Milwaukee area to find a specialist and was told that I could have her seen on March 29th. When I called on the 29th, they said we had to wait until the 31st. I took off of work on the 31st and the vet told me that it was not a chipped bone, but rather a torn ligament. This was a much more serious problem. The specialist took more X-rays, put her under anesthesia to make sure of the best course of action, and then provided more pain medication. This last visit cost $450. He also gave me an estimate for the surgery and follow-up care that will be required to fix it: $3000!
I love Bella. She has my heart and I can't stand to see her in constant pain. I work 2 jobs and can pay my bills, but this is above what I can do on my own right now. So I’m asking for a little help for her. Please consider chipping in whatever you can so I can relieve her pain. Thank you so much for reading my story, and for whatever you can give.
