Surgery for Clyde

Donation protected
https://www.instagram.com/clyde_basset_hound/  Clyde being a basset hound, I knew as a puppy that he may have leg issues. His right leg has gotten worse with age (he is only 2) so I decided to make an orthopedic specialist appointment to get it checked out. At first, before X-rays, the vet said everything felt good and that it’s pretty apparent Clyde does have an angular limb deformity but luckily it doesn’t seem to cause him pain as of now. After X-rays however it is clear his leg development also caused some issues in his elbow. With the problems in his elbow he does have arthritis at the age of 2. He was also diagnosed with hip dysplasia at this appointment. Clyde is on hip and joint supplements which is good but with the deformity affecting an adjacent body part and with the obvious arthritis, if we want to do surgery it’s better to do it as early as possible (within the next 6 months to a year). Although as I said previously, he’s not in pain now, that doesn’t mean he won’t be affected later on and if by chance he is affected later on surgery will most likely not be an option due to age. With all of that being said I feel as if surgery should be the route we choose to prolong his quality of life. Making this decision is a tough one due to the high cost of investment and the obvious risks of any surgery. His initial consultation appointment was around $450, the surgery was quoted to be around $4,000-$4,500 and the CT scan / 3D bone model required pre-op is around $2,500. I have decided to use social media as a platform to hopefully raise money for Clyde’s surgery via a gofundme or potentially promoting local fundraisers, any thing you’re able to donate would help Clyde and I out significantly as I’m a full time student and work part time at a pet store. In the photos I’ve attached his diagnosis, radiographs, and a little information about angular limb deformities! Clyde is a fun loving, goofy, and cuddly dog who I couldn't imagine having to live a life in pain as he ages if we don't pursue surgery now as a young dog. Clyde loves the dog park, hiking, long walks, and yes.. swimming! ( a basset hound who swims, weird, right?). Clyde is most definitely my heart dog and means the world to me. I would like to raise the money to have the surgery done in hopes we can have many more dog park visits, swims, hikes, and long walks through life together

I have more photos to further explain his diagnosis if anyone is interested in seeing that I just can't fit in on this page!
