Simba's Eye Surgery

Simba was a stray cat who had a noticeable issue with his eyes the first time we saw him. He looked like he was "squinting" all day every day, but upon closer observation, we noticed his eyes were swollen shut and filled with a greenish discharge. Being that we are animal lovers (and that Simba is one of the sweetest cats we've ever met), we took him in sometime in May 2020. Immediately, we got him tested for FIV and FELV (negative- yay!), got him neutered, and got his FVRCP vaccination. Finally, we scheduled his first appointment to have his eyes examined (by Dr. Danielsen at Edinburg Animal Hospital). At our first trip to the vet, Simba was prescribed Erthromycin 2x a day for 2 weeks. After no improvement, he was taken back to the vet for another examination, at which point he was prescribed Idoxuridine drops, 4x a day. His follow-up for that visit was 2 weeks later. His eyes were opened slightly at that point, but unfortunately, the problem still persisted. Our veterinarian referred us to an Ophthalmologist (at CARES in Langhorne, PA) and instructed us to continue administering the drops until we could get in to that appointment. It took over a month to be able to get on the schedule. Simba had his appointment with the Ophthalmologist (Dr. Low at CARES in Langhorne, PA) this morning (9/22/2020). The official diagnosis is something called Entropion of the lower eyelids. It's a condition where the eyelids curl into the eye. The way the doctor described it was "have you ever had an eyelash in your eye? Imagine ALL of your lower eyelashes in both of your eyes at all times". This means Simba has chronic irritation and discomfort. We are able to give him gel drops into his eyes to offer some form of relief until we can get the surgery, but the procedure needs to be done as soon as possible. We were quoted $2,400.00 for this procedure. Any contribution toward this is tremendously appreciated. We hope Simba can finally find relief for the first time in his life as soon as possible!
