# Trying to survive after Harvey

Donation protected
We all watched the news that  Hurricane Harvey was coming and none of us knew how bad it was going to be. My sister in-law Amber Polk lives in houston with her husband Dennis Polk and their two little babies, Jackson and Zoe. On Saturday night it had started flooding in her neighbor hood.  When she woke up Sunday morning the water was already in her drive way. I could tell by talking to Amber that she was getting scared. She is a very strong woman and doesn't let much pull her down. Amber and Dennis had to take the kids down the street in the inflatable pool ,in water up to her chest, to a shelter. The shelter turned them away saying they were only accepting disabled and elderly family's and couples.  With my neice and nephew in tow back out in the cold and rain they began walking down the road again.  There was a neighbor in her neighbor hood whos house sat higher than the others who was willing to open her home to Amber and her family. They feed and gave them a room to sleep in. She was such a blessing, I'm so thankful for her. She allowed my shivering niece and nephew a chance to get out of the cold rain and rising water.
They waited out the night at the neighbor's house by morning her house had began to flood. They were there a few hours that morning before the Cajun Navy came and rescued them from the home.  They took Amber to a dump truck under a bridge and then to a grocery store. From that location they were picked up by a family member where they waited out the rest of the storm.
On Wednesday, Amber was able to make it back to the house to check out all the damages of their home and the damage to  their neighborhood.  Amber is a stay at home mother and her husband (Dennis)  is a Home Inspector. Dennis is an independent contractort who only recieves compensatation for the work he has completed.  So with no income coming in you can understand it is hard to think where they will go from here.
They need all the help they can get. Im asking for your help for them and for all the neighbors in the Greenbrook neighborhood. They all need help trying to rebuild from all the distruction that Harvey has caused. Your donations will provide the assistance they need with debris removal, food and water for thier families. Help with vehicle deductables and the process of rebuilding their lives from the ground up. If you can help in any way would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance for you help and Prayers.
My name is Amber Foster, I am Amber Polk' s sister in-law. We are raising the money to help rebuild her lower level in her home and the homes of her neighbors. Once we reach our goal Amber Polk will be dispersing the money between her and the other families.
