Adoption Process

Story

Greetings family & friends! I am so excited to share this news with y'all! I have decided to move forward with adopting a baby. Those of you who have shared in my journey over the years also know that this decision is testament to how far I've come. Some of you know I had pursued fertility treatments fairly recently, but after suffering the heartbreak of miscarriage during what was an already difficult time for me personally, on the heels of my divorce, I find that I am unwilling to risk the possibility of another. I shared my story then and again now because I know so many women who have miscarried and had to hide their grief. It’s one of those taboo subjects we don’t talk about. But for me it was the amazing support of my village of family and friends, both near and far, that got me through to today. And now, as so many of my family and friends always knew I would, everyone's 'favorite aunty' is looking to add momma to her title via adoption. I am hoping for a newborn and to be able to bring them straight home from the hospital. Ultimately, I would like to have an open adoption where we will maintain some sort of contact with the birth family. My application has already been approved, but that is just the beginning. Adoption can be a long and complicated process and financial costs incurred are substantial. Application and management fees must be paid before I progress to the next stage, and I'll have to undergo classes, background clearances, interviews, references and home visits before I am officially approved.  Your donation will help cover the cost of the following fees, including: Application, $1,000; Homestudy, $1,200; Miscellaneous documents (background clearances, driving records, home inspection, etc.) at $100 Training, $250; Program & Placement Fees, $16,000;Post Placement Reports, $1,050 ($350x3); andFinalization Fees, at $1,500. All donations at any amount would be greatly appreciated. As many of you know, I have spent over a decade of my career as a social worker supporting adoptive and foster families, including countless families who experienced infertility.  After so many years of helping to create families, I am now ready to create my own. Please know how grateful I am to each and every one of you for your continued encouragement and support. I wouldn't have come this far without you, and for that I am eternally grateful. Thank you! *
