Ryklyn’s D. A. D. (Diabetic Alert Dog)

This is my sweet grandson...Ryklyn Mac Brimhall.  He was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes at the age of eight, November 17th 2016. Shortly after that he heard about Diabetic Alert Dogs. His heart was overwhelmed, from that moment he was dead set on owning his very own German Shepard D.A.D. Living situations were difficult, with four other children at home, it didn’t seem possible. Thankfully, a loving family was selling their German Shepard puppies and needed to home them quickly. For Ryklyns 11th birthday he was gifted Pyper, a very happy loving and kind pup. Pyper will soon be 6 months old, and ready for her training evaluation. If she passes she will go to Vegas for six to eight months in order to be trained. Using samples of Ryklyn’s saliva, she will learn to identify his varying blood sugar levels based off of scent! However, if she fails, The Diabetic Alert Dogs of America will provide Ryklyn with a dog suited to be trained with him personally. These animals are truly amazing!! The cost for this training is $15,000.00. Although a high expense, having a D.A.D. Would give this young man and his family unimaginable peace of mind and comfort through Ryklyn’s life of Insulin dependency, and offer Ryklyn a life saving companion.  Any help with this expense will be sincerely appreciated!
