*Each year in the United States approximately 4,000 babies (under one year old) will not live to celebrate their first birthday
Ryder Erickson's brief 1,266 days of life were a miracle and a blessing to his family and all those that were deeply touched by his spirit, so full of life and joy and wonder. Ryder was born on October 14, 2008 with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. After many surgeries and uphill battles, Ryder received a heart transplant at Christmas in 2009 giving his family 2 1/2 more years of beautiful, healthy and miraculous days before losing his battle to CHD on April 3, 2012.
Ryder's life may have been cut short but his story touched so many across the world in life, and in death his legacy will live on. Even on the most difficult days Ryder would light up a room full of nurses, doctors, and worried family members with his big, bright blue eyes and beaming smile. That light cannot be diminished. His light is everlasting and his legacy will help to be the light for other children and their families who are fighting a daily battle with CHD.
