My nephew Ryder is a cheeky, active and adventurous 4 year old with a big challenge ahead as he prepares to have surgery to remove a tumour in his left lung.
For months, he was misdiagnosed and treated as an asthmatic before enduring weeks in hospital, undergoing countless tests and scans, being poked and prodded, away from all that is familiar and normal to him. The result? A tumour. What kind? We still don’t know. There is still so much uncertainty for this family. How does a parent begin to cope with the unknown?
As I type this, Ryder’s family prepare for another lengthy hospital stay. Ryder’s mum and dad will be by his side in a Sydney hospital, hand in hand to support him and each other, as this is by far the hardest challenge this family has had to face. Ryder’s two sisters will stay behind in Wollongong to be cared for by family.
Life doesn’t stop while a child is ill, and neither do the bills. Please help this loving family stay afloat and allow them one less thing to worry about while they focus on helping their son mend. Any funds raised will assist with daily living expenses, travel expenses and any medical costs, while mum and dad are on leave indefinitely.
