Rydder’s fight against DMG

Hi, my name is Amber, and this fundraiser is for my nephew Rydder and my sister Krista & Brian's family.

Rydder Daniel is a 7 year old boy's boy. He is very protective of his big brother Walker, and little brother Sawyer. He has always been a spitfire typical boy who likes to do things on his own terms, often stubborn and loud but, also helpful and sweet.

Rydder was admitted to Cincinnati Children's Hospital on April 8, 2022, where they confirmed he has a tumor in his mid-brain. They were able to operate and remove around 50% of the tumor which is affecting his vision and motor skills.

Yesterday, April 21, 2022, Rydder was officially diagnosed with DMG-Diffuse Midline Glioma (formerly DIPG), an aggressive and incurable brain tumor. Treatment options for DMG are limited. The tumors cannot be entirely removed because they grow alongside and in between normal cells that control essential functions. Radiation can help shrink the tumor, but it cannot make the tumor go away permanently. Additionally, clinical trials may also be an option at Cincinnati Children's to slow the tumor's growth.

Rydder's initial treatment at Cincinnati Children's will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks, so as you can imagine, a good portion of Krista & Brian's time will be spent in the car traveling back and forth and taking care of their other children: Walker, who has Autism, and Sawyer.

Covering regular expenses such as gas and maintenance can get costly very quickly and unfortunately takes away from their other bills. They will also have many medical expenses that will need to be covered.

Between the stress of radiation, doctor's appointments, and upholding their family necessities, I don't want their family to have to worry about anything else other than Rydder's treatment and care.
