Ryan Hurricane Harvey Rebuild Fund

Donation protected
The Garcia Family are among the many that lost everything in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Ryan and Desiree Garcia have been married eleven years and have two children, Noah, 8 years old, Mya, 5 years old and Wonka, their basset hound. On the morning of August 27, 2017, Desiree woke Ryan at 3:30 am with waist-deep water in their one story Dickinson home. There was no mandatory evacuation posted at the time for this area. Immediately, Ryan and Desiree loaded their children and dog onto a blow up raft and exited through a window into 5 feet of rushing water. They swam to a neighboring two story home where they waited, along with other neighbors, for high water rescue. Later in the day, a few Good Samaritans came to the neighborhood with their boat and began rescuing people to a local church, which was also taking water. Desiree, Noah, and Mya were taken to the church first and waited for Ryan to be rescued. During the two hours it would take for the boat to return to Ryan, he assisted in rescuing an elderly couple. Eventually, Ryan's brother, Gabriel, was able to get close enough to the church that they were able to walk through four feet of water to him. They are safe now at his brother's home along with another family that Gabriel took from the church.

Their home, vehicles, and personal belongings are all destroyed. They do not have flood insurance. FEMA assistance will not be enough to help his family rebuild.

Both Ryan and Desiree are currently helping neighbors, friends and family with the recovery of their homes. It is in their nature to help, and they are not accustomed to asking for help for themselves. They are always the first to arrive and last to leave when aid is needed, despite what the obstacles and challenges are. This money will assist them with the cost of rebuilding their homes and their lives. No donation is too small and will be greatly appreciated. Please help show them that after many years of giving, the giver can receive.

I am Ryan's aunt, Karen Nichols, and live in Sugar Land, Texas.  All donations will go directly to Ryan and be used for building material, supplies, skilled labor, appliances, and furniture.  Thank you in advance for your help.
