Ryan and Jamie were in serious UTV accident in Winchester Bay, Oregon on Feb 17th, 2018.  They were there for a friend’s birthday and this was also Jamie’s first time at Winchester Bay.  When they went out for their first ride they went over a dune “razor back”.  When  they landed, there was extreme impact to the RZR and  to their bodies.  The landing compressed the RZR suspension, which in turn, left them with compression fractures/breaks in their backs.  Ryan broke his back in three areas.  Jamie broke her neck and broke her back as well.

They are looking at a minimum of 4 to 6 months recovery time.  They have a long road ahead to whatever level of recovery they will be able to obtain.  Meanwhile, they have their family to support, bills that will accumulate and day to day recovery needs that are still unknown.

Ryan is a contractor that is self-employed, and Jamie is a union carpenter. Both of their jobs are highly physical jobs and with their injuries they will not be able to work.

Their lives were saved by having done a recent upgrade to a five point harness that prevented worse injuries.

Ryan and Jamie have been together for 20 years.  They are parents of two wonderful boys and are also taking care of another boy that is in need at this time. They are very loving and caring people who love everyone they meet and treat everyone like family.  They have a love for the outdoors and have been riding outdoor vehicle for 15 plus years.

Sadly, medical insurance is at a minimum and there is no paid time off.  It is not easy to ask for help.  They would be the first to help others, and will be truly appreciative of any amount of help, however small or large you may find in your heart to donate.  Any funds received will be used soley by them to help offset bills and expenses.

As fellow UTV riders, we are so grateful that Jamie and Ryan are still with us, and we also realize accidents like this can happen even with the best safety measures in place.   Please help our fellow riders, friends and family in their time of need.  Our heartfelt thanks to you all.
