Ryan the Fawn

This beautiful baby was rescued off I-75 in Michigan. My husband had witnessed a pregnant deer get hit & thought the scene looked "off". He quickly turned around, dodged rush hour traffic, pulled this baby the rest of the way out of mama (she popped most of the way out when hit) & brought her home. We cleaned her up & contacted the closest nature center who could take her in, a private rehab & release who had the supplies to treat her injuries & proved proper care. Yes, it was very tempting to keep such a precious little thing, but we knew we needed to do the right thing & get her proper care. Keeping in contact with the rehab center, we were notified that the fawn had injuries to her back legs & while she is strong & healthy but certain circumstances may dictate if she will be able to recover or if she will have to be euthanized (NO LONGER a concern update below). Well that news broke my heart. We have been deeply impacted by this experience and feel driven to help continue the work of the rehab center, however the State of Michigan requires us to become licensed, inspected & registered to provide this service. We are asking for your help in raising the funds to allow us to become a certified non-profit rehab for injured & orphaned wildlife in SE Michigan. We feel this event happened to us because we are being called for a bigger purpose. We want to answer that call, but will need help in doing so. This journey may have started with baby Ryan, and while it may be that she will be just fine & able to be re-released, our experience with her and the rehab center she is currently placed with has inspired us to take this step & become an advocate for all injured wildlife in SE Michigan. Obtaining this certification will allow us to achieve that. We know times are tough right now & money is tight. Anything you can offer is so greatly appreciated. That being said IF WE ARE NOT ABLE TO APPLY FOR LICENSES BECAUSE WE ARE UNABLE TO RAISE ENOUGH $, WE WILL BE REFUNDING ALL DONATIONS. This page is for one goal only, obtain the license necessary to do our part. If we are not able to accomplish that, we are NOT keeping your hard earned money. UPDATE: Lil' Ryan is doing GREAT! She is up and walking on her own WITH casts on both legs. What a sassy & determined little lady. Also, We are moving full steam ahead with our mission. We have a 5 year plan during which time we will start with small, bottle fed animals we can accommodate with our current location. From there we will gain experience & knowledge, and eventually move to Northern Michigan where we will have access to adequate acreage to take in larger and long-term care animals. Thank you all for your kind words & support. It truly is so appreciated. UPDATE AGAIN: Little Ryan has one cast off & is up and walking. still unsure if she will need her leg amputated, but she is a rockstar & it kicking butt! As for our journey in becoming certified: our application for the permit has been SUBMITTED!! Woot-Woot and we have raised the funds for our 1st class & application fee. With all your support & encouragement (in addition to being laid off due to COVID) we have decided to take a chance & go North at the end of August 2020. We do not want to wait to fulfill this calling and with no perminate job keeping us in the suburbs anymore, its time to trust the recent series of events & follow this calling. You all have helped us so much that we can take this next step sooner than expected. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. All additional donations will help us with inspections, certifications, licensing fees, etc.
