Ryan & Audrey Davis Infertility Journey

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but sometimes, it takes a village to make one, too. 


Hello there, we are Ryan (26) and Audrey Davis (27). We're coming to you through this campaign to ask for your help in fulfilling our dream of becoming parents. 



We suffer from infertility as a couple, we are the one couple in ten that have trouble conceiving. It takes a lot of courage to be so honest about our story and to share it so publicly, but we hope by us speaking about infertility and asking for help it will encourage others to talk about their struggles too. 



A Little About Us:
We met in February 2017 through mutual friends and Ryan asked me to be his girlfriend a couple weeks later. Then the following year on January 6th 2018 Ryan proposed and i said yes! We planned our wedding for May 25, 2019 and it was nothing short of perfect! We had always talked about wanting children together so i stopped taking birth control 2 months before our wedding. We weren’t trying but if we did end up pregnant we would be thrilled but that didn’t happened. So in August 2019, i started to notice weight gain, hormonal acne, no period so i went to the doctor and they did blood test but nothing looked abnormal- they kept trying to get me back on birth control to regulate my cycle.. i told them no due to me wanting to conceive.




Fast forward to March of 2020, the symptoms are still there and i cant track my ovulation because i only had one period in 6 months. I had a friend going through IFV treatments and told me she recommended that i go to her fertility doctor since my family care doctor wasn’t much help. I set up an appt and he dignosed me with PCOS.



What is PCOS?
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome- The Mayo Clinic states Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male hormone (androgen) levels. The ovaries may develop numerous small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release eggs.



Signs and symptoms of PCOS vary. A diagnosis of PCOS is made when you experience at least two of these signs:

- Irregular periods. Infrequent, irregular or prolonged menstrual cycles are the most common sign of PCOS. For example, you might have fewer than nine periods a year, more than 35 days between periods and abnormally heavy periods.

- Excess androgen. Elevated levels of male hormone may result in physical signs, such as excess facial and body hair (hirsutism), and occasionally severe acne and male-pattern baldness.

- Polycystic ovaries. Your ovaries might be enlarged and contain follicles that surround the eggs. As a result, the ovaries might fail to function regularly.


Due to covid, August 2020 was when we were able to come up with the money for the timed intercourse cycle. The doctor recommended I take medication to bring me into my cycle (progestrone), another medication to help my follicles grow (Femar), and a trigger shot to help bring me into ovulation for the next 36 hours (Ovidrel) and then we waited 2 weeks to see if cycle worked. It was a failed cycle.


The doctor then wanted to have ryan’s sperm tested and we found out he had low count. The wanted him to have 40 Million sperm and he only had 28.5 million. The Dr wanted him to change a few habits- no drinking, no tobacco, no hot tubs, looser underwear. He changed the habits and went back in to test and still had low count.  The doctor then recommended IUI to us and thinks we would be a good candidate for the treatment.

How you can help:
Unfortunately our insurance doesn’t cover fertility treatments so it’s all out of pocket and with business slow mostly due to Covid we are struggling to save for our treatments. 2020 has been a crazy year due to covid-19 but it’s been even crazier for us finding out we cannot have children without some science. Of course it’s ultimately up to God and we have big faith he will provide. It's hard for people to ask for help when you need it most, but that's exactly what we're doing, we've overcome our fears and we're asking for help. 


Each IUI Cycle is about $1000 but we're asking for help for 3 cycles because the more IUI cycles you do the better your odds are of getting pregnant go up. Most people doing IUI treatments try 3 times.


(If we do end up needing to do all 3 IUI treatments we would love to donate back to someone else that does need help with their treatments too.)
