Ryan and Rawle Fortune’s vacation tragedy

Donation protected
On November 9, 2021 that was suppose to be the 2nd day of a week long pre-birthday trip of fun in the sun ended tragically within a blink of the eye.

Ryan (46) and Rawle (40) were ecstatic being on the beach. With both being avid swimmers and Rawle’s former training in the Armed Forces, the unthinkable was unforeseen. As, we frantically searched for their bodies and requested assistance from the hotel staff and the beach-goers, we were able to retrieve the bodies. Both were caught in the ocean’s ripe tide that appeared to have swept them 30 feet away from their initial entry point. Immediate CPR was preformed by a few nurses, a paramedic and a doctor that happened to be on the beach. Unfortunately, they were not able to revive them before the paramedics arrived.

Ryan’s wife Nakia described him being, “young at heart and always ready to have a good time. Any life-long friend or new acquaintance would feel the genuine friendship he felt toward anyone he met. He loved his children and grandchildren with his soul. They were his world.” He leaves behind his loving wife Nakia, 4 children and 2 grandchildren.

Rawle is the younger brother and the baby of the family. Nakia describes him as the “party-starter, hype-man, loving father, rising Real Estate agent and all around genuine person.” He leaves behind girlfriend Stephanie and 3 children.

The Fortune brother’s were raised in the AME church. Their parents instilled honor, respect and responsibility that they displayed throughout their life. They were the glue to the family. Collectively they leave behind their mother, father, sister, aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of close friends.

The family has been put into an unexpected financial bind. We kindly ask for your monetary support with transporting the bodies from Puerto Rico to Maryland, funeral cost and support to the children.
