I'm Becoming a Research Assistant!

Recently I was offered an AMAZING opportunity to become a research assistant to my professor, Dr. Chelsea Wentworth, in Port Vila, Vanuatu this summer! Dr. Wentworth's research "investigates how cultural factors, including the influence of kin and health care practitioners, access to local and imported food, and the economic situation of mothers, impact infant and child feeding practices in Vanuatu, a country grappling with malnutrition problems."
To be asked by Dr. Wentworth to assist her in research is a great honor and humbles me beyond belief. To think that she considers the work I have done as an undergraduate sufficient proof of my potential is reward enough. With this unprecedented experience will open doors towards conference presentations, Awards and a spot in at a prestigious institution to earn my Masters degree and PhD alike. But most importantly, I am grateful that the work I do will be making a significant difference in the lives of ni-Vanuatu families. The only thing stopping me is the ability to pay for it. The round trip international flights and living expenses were unexpected costs and therefore unattainable without your help. I am exploring a variety of avenues in order to fund this trip like scholarships and rotary funding however, this opportunity being as unique and sudden as it is, I believe it is cause for unique methods. The money donated will go towards plane tickets and the cost of living in Port Villa for a month, which will come to about $5,000 total.
I want to thank every one of you for taking time to read my story and an even bigger thank you to those of you who donate. I understand that my goal is high and not everyone can donate a large sum of money but every dollar counts towards my goal.
