Wellbeing for Rwandan Youth

I'm fund raising on behalf of Jean Pierre Ndagijimana who was introduced to me by my dear friend Dr. Monisha Bajaj, Department Chair and Professor of International and Multicultural  Education at the University of San Francisco.  When Monisha spoke of Jean Pierre and explained his story and mission, I was compelled to help. This campaign is to first raise funds for his ability to continue his studies at the University where each class costs $3450 and secondly to fulfill his research project in Rwanda this summer which will cost $2000. I will be supporting this campaign as well as his continued education at the University of San Francisco, but I wanted to share his story and ask for your assistance as well for this great cause. 

Jean Pierre is devoted to helping people achieve the highest degree of mental and physical health through education, coaching and training in stress regulation and mindfulness. Learning to create peace and find the gap of calm in life is critical for brain-body wellness. Jean Pierre is a Rwanda genocide survivor.  He knows from personal experience the impact of accumulated stress from genocide and war. Jean Pierre coined the Kinyarwanda word UBU as a tool for stress regulation - learning to be in the now or UBU means learning to live in the present moment. He has developed UBU training for adults, youth and children who have experienced extreme trauma and toxic stress in their lives. 

He is currently attending the University of San Francisco at the School of Education in the Masters in International and Multicultural Education program. He has depended on the generosity of donors to pay his tuition fees while also sending money home to his mother and siblings.  His academic goal is to complete his Doctorate and a career goal of working with refugees.
