Rwanda Intership Opportunity

Hello, My name is Kenneth Treinen and I am fundraising for a wonderful opportunity of an internship at the City of Joy, Rwanda.
To give you some background, I have previously been immersed in the deaf community as a high school student taking ASL. My loving and excellent teacher, Hillorie Schrock, has ignited a fire within my soul, helping me discover that ASL and supporting the deaf community is my passion. I am a Bloomsburg University student in the English/ASL interpreting Program. I have truly fallen in love with the deaf community not only as a student but as a person who has the opportunity to unite the world of hearing people and those with hearing impairments. I have previously had the opportunity to go and support the deaf community in Rwanda while in high school. While I was there I saw the love of God and how it affected the community, With great smiling faces and the kindest attitudes you could know. This trip personally affected my life as I saw what true innocence is and recognized the privilege that I have in my education and faith. Just to be able to have the opportunity to travel to Rwanda and witness the joy contained by the kids' faces was amazing. They were so ecstatic that someone had finally come to the deaf community to help and teach them, in view of the fact that this had never happened before previous years. An opportunity that they have never experienced and made both participants feel more joyful than ever before is what makes my purpose. Coupled with the discipline that comes with this innocence you clearly see the true power of pure innocence and the protection it has over these kids.
Now, I have this opportunity again. Due to college and moving out of state, I am financially incapable of covering the cost. The money I fundraise would go toward my airfare, food, and transportation to and within the City of Joy, Rwanda along with the paperwork required including a visa. It is through this opportunity that I would be able to learn and grow deeper in the community as I excel in the deaf community. While I am in Rwanda I will be helping the students at the Joy Christian School whether that is helping as a teachers assistant or helping the partnered school for the disabled, where the deaf community is. This internship will be longer than I had previously gone, in total it will last a month. The exact days are May 31st- July 1st, 2024.
