Dear friends, family, and community partners, Rainier Valley Leadership Academy (RVLA) is a public, tuition-free, charter school serving an incredibly diverse population in Seattle. We are an anti-racist collaborative community of critical thinkers focused on dismantling systemic oppression through scholar leadership. We fulfill our vision by ensuring scholars are college and career ready by providing an anti-racist education, opportunities for collaborative problem solving, and community leadership experiences. Our community has risen up against many hardships this year. We transitioned from a national charter association, to an independent collaborative community charter school that is designed with and supported by the community.  Through these challenges, our community has demonstrated strength, resilience, and love. We are proud of our scholars and our staff.  Amid the COVID-19 school closure, we are committed to the learning of our scholars by continuing their education through technology. As a small charter school, we are unable to access the same funding that traditional public schools receive. We are asking our friends, families, and community partners to join with us in raising funds to ensure all of our families have the necessary resources to support virtual learning. Every dollar counts, and will help us to provide educational services (examples include: Chromebooks for scholars without computers, internet access for families without internet access), a safety net for families with unforeseen hardships, and unanticipated costs associated with this unprecedented closure.
