Ruth LaLonde: Surgical Recovery

My friend Ruth LaLonde NEEDS US to keep her home and her child fed during her surgical recovery.  Let’s give her the foundation to begin her NEW LEASE ON LIFE!

I watched as Ruthi struggled the last 2 years with pain Doctors did not diagnose. She swore to me one day, a year ago, “I know I’m dying! There’s something terribly wrong.”

Ruthi being the soldier she is, lived with the pain and continued working to hold her and her children’s lives together as she is their center of strength and at times only financial support. 

One day this last October, Destiny came home to find Ruthi past out on the kitchen floor, something Ruthi has never done. It was the day of reckoning. Ruthi was ordered to get an MRI.

The MRI revealed a massive tumor between her spine and behind her heart, they would have to operate as soon as possible and a biopsy was to invasive given the location. 

1) The tumor had to come out!
2) Would Ruthi Live Through Surgery?
3) No one knew how the operation would go

Could there be fibers throughout her spine?
Was it cancer?
The lumps below the surface of her skin, were they lymphoma?

She had to go through tests to see if her heart and vascular system could withstand the surgery. The tests showed her heart was strong enough and surgery took place June 19, just this last Monday. I was there, and hopeful, encouraging, but not confident she would make it. IT WAS HARD!! I love this dear friend of mine and I did not want to loose her.

·      The surgery revealed no fibers
·      The tumor was cleanly removed
·      To the doctors, the tumor looked benign

She will not be able to move much, will need physical therapy to get her strength back, and the doctor says it will take her 8 WEEKS TO RECOVER!
