Five months. That's how long it took for Rusty to be diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. Five pain filled, long months. James R. Pool, "Rusty", also known as "Ironman" to his Dallas Police Family, was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer March 21, 2018. He passed away on April 30, 2018.
We are currently seeking donations to pay outstanding medical bills and to fly him home to his final resting place at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
A little bit about Rusty. As a 17 year old, he joined the Navy and spent 12 months in Vietnam as an Aerographer's Mate. While he was stationed in the Republic of the Philippines, he was the Navy 1966 All-Navy Phillippines lightweight champion. - He later served 27 years with the Dallas Police Department as an officer. After he retired from DPD he moved with his family and became an Abuse Investigator for the State of Tennesee.
Additional info: Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. Smoking is not always the cause, Rusty smoked from the age of 15 to 30, he is now 71 and was just diagnosed.
