Rusty, our beautiful foster dog, needs surgery

Please help us help Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue pay for Rusty’s surgery. He has had two invasive (and expensive) dental surgeries so far totaling $2,500 and the final procedure is another $1,300+.

The poor guy was picked up as a stray during the coldest week in February.  Rusty was about 25 pounds underweight, cold, and completely stressed out from wandering the streets.  As it turns out, some of the stress was related to being in constant pain; Rusty's canines were broken in half and the nerves exposed.  Nearly a month passed at the Shelter and Rusty continued to lose weight.  He was twelve hours from euthanasia when we took him home as a foster dog through Diamonds in the Ruff.

During the procedure to extract Rusty's broken canines, X-rays revealed that Rusty had two more large teeth embedded in his jawbone.  These full sized teeth create a cyst around them that degrades the bone around it.   The surgery to remove these embedded teeth is extremely delicate and there are only a handful of veterinary dentists in the area who can perform the procedure.

Unfortunately, the dental surgeon, during the procedure to extract the embedded teeth, discovered that the jaw was too fragile and the nerves too intertwined to risk extracting the second tooth at that time. Six months later, the jaw is stable enough to remove the second embedded tooth.

We, as Rusty's foster parents, want to help Diamonds pay for the surgery, so we are asking for donations (or a share) to help offset the cost.  Rusty has been with us for nine months and we love him dearly.  In order for Rusty to live his best life, the stubborn tooth needs to be removed and the jaw given time to heal.  We are prepared to love and care for our unbelievably gentle and sweet guy until he is back to 100%.
