Russell Gulley Showcase/Recording19

After some 30 years of working for my community as a director of a local arts council, folklorist, and arts in education teaching artist, I am now working on my next phase as an artist/musician, a veteran Muscle Shoals musician with national recording and tour credits. These 30 years have depleated my assests to really all I have now is all my talent, my history ,and my experience. As I face my final years (71 years of age) as a recording artist, I need funding to put together promotional materials, showcases, and product (new studio recordings, a book/memoir, and advance arts education programs). To start (PHASE 1), I plan a showcase at the acclaimed New Orleans Jazz Museum in the U.S. Mint in New Orleans, October 12th that will be recorded both video and audio in a Million Dollar state of the art venue. These recordings will serve as the center piece of materials for showcases such as SouthArts/PAE and APAP in NYC.(PHASE 2) Next I plan to return to Muscle Shoals to record my next studio recording to be titled "Southern Noir". Seeking a label to distribute and promote the recording is one of the goals for another showcase (PHASE 3) to be staged in Nashville with the help of Nashville Fringe Festival ,a non-profit organization. All of this is also planned to head me in the direction of completing a book based on my Muscle Shoals experiences to accompany an Anthology of my musical career. This may seem ambitious for an "Ol' Man" but I still believe in my talents as a Songwriter, Folklorist, Recording Artist, and Performer. Join me in my quest and I'll be forever grateful.
