My friend, Russ Cunningham needs our help. Back in 2012, he was diagnosed with colon-rectal cancer. Radiation, chemotherapy, and long hospital stays have been the norm since then. Over the past five years, Russ has had to survive a turbulent storm of sickness, surgeries, uncertainty, and overwhelming anxiety. The treatment has been unrelenting but promising. He has had periods of remission, making us hopeful that a return to a normal and healthy life was in sight...That is, until a few months ago.
Russ recently became ill again. Headaches, nausea, and bouts of weakness prompted the doctors to start looking elsewhere for signs of cancer. Tests found that his colon-rectal cancer metastasized, forming tumors in his lungs; and then spread into his brain.
Once more, Russ is forced to deal with this debilitating cancer and its toxic treatments. Anyone who has had cancer, or known someone who had cancer, knows that it not only attacks the body but also the wallet. Insurance has been a blessing to Russ and his family but it only partially covers the burden. In addition to the stacking medical bills, Russ’ inability to work normal hours has cut deeply into his compacity to pay for those bills or provide for his family. He is now fighting on two fronts and that is why I’m here asking for your help.
