Russ Nagel Truck Fire Fund

We all have that one friend who would be there for you under any circumstance. The friend who would drop what they're doing to drive 45 min to help with your car troubles, the one who would bail you out of jail, the one who is always generous. That friend is Russ and we all owe him more than can be repaid, but let's do our best to return the favor and help him and his family to recover quickly from this accident. Plus, who hasn't benefited $100 or so from his generosity over the years?

Here's what happened:

Yesterday, Russ was driving on I-95 to a work consult when his GMC Sierra caught on fire. By the time he made it to the side of the road, his hood was spewing 10 ft flames. Luckily, Russ escaped unscathed and eventually fire crews came to extinguish the truck.



This was a devastation for the family as the truck and everything in it were destroyed. This included thousands of dollars of equipment, supplies, and personal belongings that the family needs to get by. Russ is the sole provider for his family of four and this is a huge hit.

Here are some of the frantic texts I got from my good friend Megan(Russ' wife) in the aftermath of the accident:

"OMG Russ’ truck just caught fire - he’s okay, thank god. But the insurance guy says our auto policy will not cover a penny for us :(

… we are probably facing upwards of $25k that we lost - our truck, all of the tools and Russ’ work supplies as well as our personal belongings that burned… oh and the loss of work due to this … the tow truck bill… as well as the “replacement vehicle” fees while we figure out what to do.

… so, we lost both of the kids' car seats, a work printer, a GPS system, his work clothes and shoes, tons of special tools he uses… it’s thousands of dollars of stuff that is just gone now :(   "
