Future Tri-Paw Needs Your help!
I'd like you all to met Rush! She's an Eleven year old pup that saved my life the moment I adopted her from our local Animal Shelter. She's the first one to greet us when we come home from a long day at work, she's the smelly breath I wake up to every morning with a smile, and she has a sister in crime, Tobi, whos favorite passtime for the last eleven years has been following Rush around and cuddling Rush.
Three weeks ago we noticed a change in behavior with Rush as she had lost all of her appetite and puppy like enthusiasm. That day we found a lump on her front left elbow. A week ago we found out that the lump on her elbow is a tumor that has attached itself to her nerve. We were told if we don't have Surgery our beautiful vibrant dog would have to be put down in just three months as the tumor would suffocate the leg and cause necrosis. This would most likely result in a blood infection and would eventually get to her heart and kill her.
We were told by the doctors that due to how long the tumor was into her nerve that they could do a bulk removal. This would remove nearly 80% of the tumor and then Rush would have to have 8 bouts of chemotherapy and in the end the tumor was 100% guaranteed to grow back.
We decided to go with the only option that had the highest possibility to have the tumor not grow in another part of her body, less than 10%, and would be the quickest recovery for Rush. We chose amputation of her front left leg.
* The surgery will cost roughly $1580
The other money will go to:
* Building an elevated dog food/water station.
* Buying her a tri-paw specific harness.
* Building a Ramp so that she can get on and off of the bed.
Her Surgery is Monday May 1st, 5 days before my 30th Birthday!
