Rupert’s Emergency Surgery

Donation protected

On Tuesday, September 25th Rupert got loose and his nose got the best of him. He ran out into the road and was hit by a pickup truck. The driver of the vehicle did not stop or even slow down so we don't know exactly how fast they were driving but the sound of the impact was something that will haunt me forever. He has suffered a broken pelvis, internal bleeding and has air in his chest. He is going to need surgery to repair his pelvis where the spinal column connects into it. He is going to need a lot to recover after the surgery as well. He isn't going to be able to walk on his own for awhile and will need special equipment to help him. He may even need physical therapy.

He is not stable enough to have surgery just yet but they are hoping to have the surgery done early in the morning or tomorrow. He isn't eating yet but he is resting well. The doctor does think that he will pull through if we are proactive about this as soon as possible.

As most of you may know, Rupert is very special to me. He was my first dog and has been with me through thick and thin. He is my rock and the absolute foundation of my life. He is barely even six years old and has so much life left to live. He really is the best boy ever. I refuse to let him get put down just because I can't afford the costs of his emergency surgery. I'm not ready to lose him yet and I don't know what I would do without him.

I don't really know what else to say. . . Any donation helps, no matter how small.
