Alz Research - reaching $250,000
Donation protected
For 7 years, we have held an event called "Running 4 Answers, a race against Alzheimer's" (www.running4answers.org) in Roseland, NJ. The 5k race and 2-mile fun run was created because I could not find a race benefitting Alzheimer's research.
My mom had Alzheimer's from the age of 55 until she passed away in October, 2015 at age 72. Because this disease leaves you feeling helpless, my friend, Barbara and I decided to DO SOMETHING.
Our proceeds are donated to Cure Alzheimer's Fund (www.curealz.org). We chose that organization because EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR donated goes toward the research that has best of chance of preventing, slowing or reversing the disease. HERE is a recent article from their website that was also in the NY Times this week.
So far, we have donated $245,000 to this great organization. We would LOVE to be able to say we have donated "A QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS".
WE ARE A MERE $5,000 FROM THAT MILESTONE.
- This disease has no cure and is affecting over 5 million Americans currently. It is the SIXTH leading cause of death in the United States.
- 1 in 3 seniors dies with dementia or Alzheimer's
- In 2015, 15 million caregivers provided an estimated 18 BILLION hours of unpaid care.
