<div>Life has a way of throwing us off course when we least expect it. Just months after completing the Chicago Marathon—something I trained hard for and never imagined would become such a meaningful milestone—I was diagnosed with leukemia.

</div>

<div>Everything changed in an instant. For someone like me, who’s always been active, on the move, and full of energy, this diagnosis has been a jarring shift. The physical toll has been intense, but the emotional weight has been even harder to carry.

</div>

<div>Since late April 2025, I’ve been in and out of the hospital—undergoing a lengthy stay, multiple procedures, endless blood tests, chemotherapy, and blood transfusions. I’m grateful every day for the incredible team of doctors and nurses at Georgetown Hospital who have guided me with care and compassion. Their dedication and the advanced treatment available to me give me hope.

<div>As the treatment continues—expected to last around two years—my body is beginning to feel the wear, especially from the chemo and low hemoglobin levels. I’ve had to step away from work and many of my regular responsibilities. My wife, Tarang, is holding us together—working full-time, taking care of me, and also caring for our sweet, spirited dog who brings us so much joy but also requires time and resources.

<div>My parents have flown in from India to support us, and both of our workplaces have shown amazing understanding. But even with health insurance, there are many unexpected and uncovered costs—transportation to and from the hospital, medications, out-of-pocket treatments, living expenses, and pet boarding on days when I need to be away from home.
