USMC Marathon Honoring Sgt. Chesna

Sgt. Chesna tragically died in the line of duty while protecting the citizens of Weymouth, Massachusetts on July 15, 2018. Sgt. Chesna leaves behind his wife Cindy, daughter Olivia (9) and son Jack (4). There are no words that can help take the pain away and no action that will bring Michael Chesna back to his family but as a tribute and to honor his life, a group of Hanover Residents have decided to run the Marine Corps Marathon in his honor and to raise money for his family. His sister-in-law Debbie Comperchio is joining us on this mission.
Following 9/11, Mike joined the U.S. Army to serve his country with the first battalion, 87th infantry regiment 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum New York. He served two tours of duty, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He served in Iraq then Afghanistan
He later fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a police officer for the town of Weymouth, MA.
His brother-in-law Captain Joseph Comperchio, also a Weymouth police officer, said Mike is an "American hero and patriot”. It seems fitting we run this particular marathon for him!
We will run the 26.2 miles through our nations capital with Mike and his family in our hearts, and all he gave for his country and Town of Weymouth on our minds.

"Run with pride and purpose". That is the Marine Corps Marathon's motto and that is our mantra as we run in honor of Mike Chesna and his family. The US Army 10th Mountain Division's motto is "Climb to Glory". We will all be striving to climb to glory for Sgt. Chesna. and his family.
