Running for Refugee Empowerment

As you know, when I run my annual marathon, I like to raise funds for a cause near and dear to my heart. Following on last year's theme of honoring refugees and asylum seekers, I'm raising funds for Footage Foundation. Footage Foundation raises voices to elevate lives. Footage's mission is to use media arts and the science of compassion to engage and connect young people worldwide as agents of change. Footage's vision is for people to have the tools and support they need to construct and share their experiences, perspectives, and create solutions to the world’s most pressing social issues.

In particular,  Footage runs an amazing program called Her{connect}Her.  Her{connect}Her is a platform and program for young refugee and migrant women worldwide developed by Footage Foundation in 2016.
Her{connect}Her engages young women through media arts and mobile technology to foster belonging, leadership, and connection in their lives. Throughout 2017, Footage Foundation has provided the program in France, Sweden, Greece, and the U.K. with the support of two crowdfunding campaigns. Program evaluations thus far demonstrated that young women saw themselves as resilient changemakers and leaders after taking part in Her{connect}Her.
