Running for Queens Hospital Center

On Sunday, November 5th 2017, I will once again run in the New York City Marathon.  This year however is a little different as I am running to raise funds for the Cancer Care Unit and the Research Department at the Queens Hospital Center, Jamaica, Queens, NY.  I was personally affected by Breast Cancer and diagnosed on November 20th, 2012 so reaching this 5-year survivor milestone is very special to me.  I am currently participating in a 10-year Research Study under the wonderful care of Linda Bulone, Research Nurse Manager at the Queens Hospital Center.  I am forever grateful to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital who have treated me over the last 5 years and continue to do so.  They have delivered such expert care and compassion to me and without their support and indeed all the support from my wonderful friends and family in New York and Ireland, undertaking this 26.2 mile trek was something I did not think was possible for me to do again.  Thankfully I am one of the lucky ones and now in remission.  Hopefully my diagnosis and participation in the research study will help in some way in the treatment of breast cancer patients in the future.

I have set up a “Go Fund Me Page” so if you would like to make a donation, you may do so using the link on this page.  I will also have sponsorship sheets so if you see me out and about over the next few weeks you can sponsor me by check made payable to the “Queens Hospital Center, Jamaica” or cash.  All money raised will be personally handed over by me to the Queens Hospital Center and I am delighted to be able to give something back to this great hospital that has given me so much.

Thank you all for your donations.
