Running for municipal council

I am asking for financial support from my fellow Maple Ridge citizens for my election campaign for councilor. If elected I will work very diligently to meet the needs of my constituents and promise to keep a good attendance record on council, as I have during my work career. I also promise that 100% of the funds donated will be used in the election campaign. The funds will go towards creating a website, printing pamphlets and signs.
My goals as a council member will be to:
-Protect and preserve the Agricultural Land Reserve.
-Work towards improving the homeless and addictions crisis in Maple Ridge (lowering the rates of both homelessness and addictions).
-Provide improved street lighting.
-Improve bicycle lanes along roads.
-Create new bicycle pathways in forested and park areas.
-Advocate against mobility pricing for automobiles.
-Advocate for ride-sharing programs like Uber and Lyft.
-Propose a B-Line bus route from the Haney Place Station directly to Coquitlam Center Mall, with one stop at Meadowtown Center.
-Propose a property tax freeze (0% increase) for all Maple Ridge homeowners for 3 years, at which time it will be re-evaluated.
-Propose tax incentives to farmers on ALR lands actively farming traditional food crops.
-Restore the Peace Memorial Park bandstand to its former glory with weatherproof copper paint that will not become tarnished or fade over time.
-Make necessary improvements to the train crossing in the Haney area to allow trains to pass without blowing their whistles day and night.
-Work with council colleagues to ensure council is open and accountable to the public and all decisions are completely transparent.

I have over two decades of experience working in mental health and addictions, have a degree in psychiatric nursing and psychology, and believe I am eminently qualified to tackle the addictions crisis, and related homelessness, that is plaguing Maple Ridge. I will work tirelessly with B.C. Housing, Fraser Health, and other partners to create effective treatment options for those suffering from addictions.
I will propose a recovery-based treatment model instead of the housing first model currently offered, and will ensure there is long-term case planning that involves a holistic approach to medical health, social supports, counselling, secure housing and employment.
Your support will give me an opportunity to better serve my community as a public servant. I already volunteer with the Haney Farmers' Market and the MRAC church as an usher. I am also looking forward to volunteering with the Friends in Need Food Bank and Christmas Haven event soon. This is in addition to my full-time work. I have lived in Maple Ridge since 2006 and would like to improve the conditions not only for my family but for the families in my community that I enjoy being a part of. I give you my promise that I will do everything in my power to fulfill my election commitments to you. It is with your support that my election will be possible. Thank you for your support.

*Please note that you must be a resident of B.C. in order to donate and the maximum donation per person is $1200.00. Also, corporations, organizations and unions are not allowed to donate (only individuals) as per the latest changes to the Elections B.C. Act. Additionally, all donors must leave their name and city of residence available as per the Elections B.C. Act. Thank you.
