<div>What started as a personal dream became something much bigger.
</div>

<div>Running for Generations was born from one simple goal: to run all World Marathon Majors. But after life touched three generations of one family through illness, that dream became a mission.
</div>

</div>
<div>At the age of 18, I lost my father to cancer. Growing up without him left a lasting impact and created a deep understanding of what illness can take away from a family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Last year, my brother was diagnosed with MS. A moment that felt unfair, heartbreaking and powerless, but also created a strong desire to do something meaningful and help where possible.
</div>

</div>
<div>And then there is the next generation. My daughter lives with epilepsy. Something that brings uncertainty into daily life and raises questions about the future. In the beginning, when seizures happened more frequently, life became more limited. What is safe? What is possible? Fear sometimes became part of everyday life, for both me and my daughter.

<div>Three generations. Three different realities. Three diseases that changed a family forever.

<div>That is when Running for Generations truly began.

<div>I decided to turn my personal marathon dream into something that could create awareness, hope and real impact. My mission is to run all World Marathon Majors while raising funds for three causes deeply connected to his family story:

<div>Berlin will be the first Marathon Major of my journey, simply because it was the first race where I was fortunate enough to receive a place at the start line.

<div>This is not just about crossing finish lines.
</div>

<div>It is about every training run, every mile and every step being taken for the generations before us, beside us and after us.
</div>

<div><strong>How donations will be used</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>All donations will be divided as fairly and equally as possible between cancer, MS and epilepsy charities.
</div>
<div>In some cases, I may participate in a marathon as a charity runner, meaning a required fundraising amount may apply for one specific cause in order to receive a race entry. Even then, we remain committed to keeping everything as fair and balanced as possible across all three causes.

<div>Our goal is to donate after every marathon and continue making an impact step by step.
</div>

</div>
<div>Every donation goes directly to the causes we support. We personally cover all travel, marathon entries and other expenses ourselves.

<div>Wat begon als een persoonlijke droom, werd iets veel groters.

<div>Running for Generations is ontstaan vanuit één simpel doel: alle World Marathon Majors lopen. Maar nadat drie generaties binnen één familie geraakt werden door ziekte, veranderde die droom in een missie.

<div>Op 18-jarige leeftijd verloor ik mijn vader aan kanker. Opgroeien zonder hem heeft een blijvende impact gehad en zorgde voor een diep besef van wat ziekte van een familie kan afnemen.

<div>Vorig jaar kreeg mijn broer de diagnose MS. Een moment dat oneerlijk voelde, verdriet bracht en machteloos maakte, maar tegelijkertijd ook een sterke behoefte gaf om iets te betekenen en te helpen waar mogelijk.

<div>En dan is er de volgende generatie. Mijn dochter leeft met epilepsie. Iets wat onzekerheid met zich meebrengt in het dagelijks leven en vragen oproept over de toekomst. Vooral in de beginperiode, toen de aanvallen korter op elkaar volgden, bracht dit beperkingen met zich mee. Wat kan wel? Wat is veilig? Angst werd soms onderdeel van het dagelijks leven, voor zowel mijzelf als vader als voor mijn dochter.

<div>Drie generaties. Drie verschillende verhalen. Drie ziektes die een familie voorgoed hebben veranderd.

<div>Op dat moment ontstond Running for Generations écht.

<div>Ik besloot mijn persoonlijke marathondoel om te zetten in iets dat bewustwording, hoop en echte impact kan creëren. Mijn missie is om alle World Marathon Majors te lopen en daarbij geld op te halen voor drie doelen die persoonlijk verbonden zijn met mijn familieverhaal:

<div>Dit gaat niet alleen over de finish halen. Het gaat over iedere training, iedere kilometer en iedere stap die wordt gezet voor de generaties vóór ons, naast ons en na ons.

<div><strong>Hoe worden donaties gebruikt?</strong>
</div>
<div>Alle donaties worden zo eerlijk en gelijk mogelijk verdeeld over doelen die zich inzetten voor kanker, MS en epilepsie.

<div>In sommige gevallen kan ik alleen deelnemen aan een marathon als charity runner. Dit betekent dat er een verplicht sponsorbedrag geldt voor een specifiek doel om een startbewijs te verkrijgen. Ook in die situaties blijven we ons inzetten om alles zo eerlijk en evenwichtig mogelijk te verdelen over alle drie de doelen.

<div>Ons streven is om na iedere marathon een donatie te doen aan alle drie de doelen en zo stap voor stap impact te maken.
