<div>In December of 2019 I was seriously injured in a snowboarding accident. I had burst fractured my L4 vertebrae and broken 3 bones in my right hand. One of the things from that day that has stuck with me the most is the terrifying feeling of the unknown. "Would I ever walk again?" "If I had mobility, to what capacity would it be?" "Would I ever be able to do the things I loved again?" The constant pokes and prods from doctors asking me if I can feel them touching various areas of my body. The overwhelming feeling of relief when I could feel every single one. The strong sense of dread when my left leg started to go numb the day after leaving the hospital. In sorting through these thoughts and emotions, I made the promise to myself to never take my legs or my fitness for granted again. The idea of running a marathon crossed my mind, but at the time seemed like such a stretch.

<div>I have spent the last 5 months training for my first marathon, which will take place on October 9th in Boulder, CO. In doing so, I would like to raise funds for an incredible organization called the High Fives Foundation. They help injured and handicapped athletes and veterans get back to their sport through modified equipment, mental health support among other resources. This has not been an easy or pain-free journey, but it has been an important one for me. If you have the ability and would like to donate, it would really be appreciated.
